About the role:
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Advisor - Employment Relations, working within our People & Culture branch. Reporting to the Head of Employment Relations you will work within a small and supportive team that is responsible for providing specialist advice and leadership on terms and conditions, employment policies and procedures, and complex employment relationship issues.
You will support HR Advisors and frontline managers by providing pragmatic advice, coaching and training in the areas of employment relations, change management, performance management, and HR policy. In addition to your day-to-day case work you will also have the opportunity to contribute to projects and working groups. You will play an important role in collective bargaining and maintaining an effective working relationship with unions.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and experience in managing employment relationship problems from end-to-end. You will also be proactive, as this role has great scope for you to develop and improve upon existing procedures. You will be up-to-date with legislation and employment relations best practice in New Zealand.
Skills and experience required:
Proven track record of experience and achievement across all areas of employment relations, with a particular focus on formal dispute resolution
- The ability to quickly and confidently triage and, where appropriate, act on employment relationship problems
- Confidence to apply your skills across a breadth of HR disciplines, including performance management and competency frameworks
- The ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of an organisation
- A strong customer service ethos
- At least 7 years' experience in the field, possibly including experience as an HR generalist
- LLB with papers in Dispute Resolution and Industrial Law an advantage
