The Team
The Department of Anaesthesia is a large department which provides acute and planned anaesthesia services in Christchurch across two main campuses, Christchurch Public and Burwood Hospital. Surgical services are provided for all the main surgical specialities including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, Trauma, Paediatric/Neonatal surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Tertiary services provided for patients from outside Canterbury include Acute Spine, Oncological surgery and endovascular clot retrieval.
The department is accredited for training by ANZCA and has a large number of trainees.
The Role
We are seeking a Specialist Anaesthetist based at Christchurch Hospital in a generalist position. This is a fixed term, full-time position covering parental leave from September 2022 to September 2023.
This role involves providing high quality anaesthesia care and professional clinical leadership to ensure the best possible health outcomes whilst working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary perioperative teams.
The Department will endeavour to accommodate specific clinical and non-clinical interests.
Your duties will also include participation in an on-call out-of-hours (including Obstetrics) and supervision of trainees.
