At Te Toka Tumai, our Hospital Palliative Care team provides high quality, individualised specialist palliative care for patients and their whānau, who have life limiting illness. The Adult Hospital Palliative Care Team is an expert interdisciplinary team of medical and nursing specialists in palliative care, supported by other disciplines, who provide specialist service across 7 days.
Within Te Toke Tumai palliative care is provided by all clinicians as an integral part of their practice and the Hospital Palliative Care Team, using a consult model, provides specialist palliative care. They provide direct management, advice and support for the person, family and whānau, especially for patients who have complex palliative care needs that exceed the capability of the primary treating speciality.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We have a full-time permanent position (40 hours/week) available for a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner.
In this role the Nurse Practitioner will practise both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals to promote health, prevent disease and to diagnose, assess and manage health needs.
The Nurse Practitioner will provide a wide range of assessments and treatments interventions, including differential diagnoses, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, and administering therapies for the management of actual or potential health needs.
The Nurse Practitioner will work in partnership with individuals, families, whānau and communities across a wide range of settings.
As a senior nurse you will also provide nursing leadership, quality initiatives and contribute to service and directorate development.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
We are seeking a nurse with the following essential skills:
- At least 4 years’ experience within Palliative Care
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) or in the late stages of obtaining your registration if overseas
- Registered with the Nursing Council NZ as a Nurse Practitioner
- An understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
- Demonstrate alignment with Te Toka Tumai values
