Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient, CM Health Pharmacy at Counties Manukau District Health Board (South Auckland), Auckland
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
Middlemore Hospital has an opportunity for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our InPatient Dispensary (IPD). Come and join our friendly pharmacy team!
Permanent part time (0.8 FTE) position
Our vision is to transform inpatient dispensary at Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) into a cutting edge, innovative, creative, agile and human-centered service.
As one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals in New Zealand, work as a pharmacy technician in our IPD team offers a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
In our busy department, every day is different. Pharmacists and technicians work together to respond to the work on hand in the main dispensary. On the wards, technicians work alongside ward staff to maintain their own areas and keep up with medication supply demands. For this, confidence in your own ability and the ability to work independently are essential.
Daily duties include dispensing medicines to named patients and replenishing ward stocks through automated Medistations (Pyxis) or Imprest. Working with advanced technology offers a new and systematic way of supply resulting in improved patient safety and efficient service. Once trained and appropriately experienced, technicians have the opportunity to work in areas associated with a high level of responsibility such as pharmaceutical compounding, cytotoxic training, Home IVs, procurement and other specialist roles within medicines supply.
The role will be supported by the dispensary team. You will also work closely with clinical pharmacists and ward staff. Previous hospital experience is not necessary but preferred. We provide an environment where innovative new ideas and methods of working are encouraged.
