An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist  to join our Adult Community Mental Health & Addictions Service as a mental health clinician.  If you are wanting to join a passionate team who places great value on putting people first, embedding Te Ao Māori in every-day practice, leading with kindness and achieving excellence together; then this may be the opportunity for you.

Ko wai mātou / Who we are

We are growing our team with an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health professional to help embed our new model of care Te Ara Tauwhirotanga: pathways that lead us to act with kindness.  Te Ara Tauwhirotanga is the product of extensive co-design with over 400 participants from the Lakes DHB community, a model that clearly articulates what works for people in their recovery and healing journey.

Mō te tūranga / About the role

As a mental health clinician, you will provide specialist intervention for people to optimise recovery and quality of life as well as case coordination.  The successful applicant will be competent in all facets of assessment, holistic care and multi-disciplinary team work and have demonstrated ability to work with all ethnicities, particularly Māori/Iwi.

Te Ara Tauwhirotanga acknowledges that health, wellbeing and opportunities for healing and recovery are a basic human right and that this can only occur when individual experience and personal cultural values are recognised.   The model is the product of an extensive co-design process, aligns to He Ara Oranga and is designed around three central Pou (pillars) of Tikanga (Values), Tangata (People) and Taiao (Environment).

Ngā huanga o tēnei mahi / The benefits of this position

At Lakes DHB we believe in the importance of living wellness and not just teaching it.  The area offers a wide range of healthy lifestyle options, including adventure, relaxation and minimal commute.  You wil be spoilt for choice with water-sports on our lakes; mountain biking and/or running in the world-class Whakarewarewa forest which boosts trails from beginner to advanced or relaxing in the extensive choice of hot pools.  And we are only a stone’s throw away from the beautiful beaches along the East-Coast, as well as close to two universities for further study.
