Mō tēnei tūranga | About the role

 

Our Specialist Mental Health Services (SMHS) are at the leading edge of mental health service delivery. We provide a range of inpatient and community services to tangata whaiora in the Waitaha Rohe (Canterbury district). The roles that we are recruiting for are part of the following services; Adult Community, Rural, Crisis Resolution, Adolescent and Family (CAF) Youth Forensic; Anxiety Disorder, Te Awakura (Adult Acute Inpatients) and Forensic.

Ko wai koe | About You

As the Pouako Mātauranga you will be responsible for providing cultural knowledge and expertise to support the development of the role of Pūkenga Atawhai and to increase the cultural competency of all Specialist Mental Health Services kaimahi. The role reflects the principles and partnership of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it is reflected in the operations of the SMHS, upholding a culture that is focused on learning, and is characterised by respect, inclusion, empathy, collaboration and safety.

Ngā Mātauranga me ngā Tautōhito| Skills and experience

  • A robust and in-depth understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori.
  • A Registered Health Professional, with a current annual practicing certificate.
  • Experience implementing knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga into organisational processes and practices.
  • Experience in delivering education programmes to adults
  • A recognised Cultural Leader
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to adjust to a variety of adult learning styles.
  • Moderate to high level of computer literacy.
  • Ability to identify opportunity to grow capability and embed cultural awareness, responsiveness and safety of all staff groups.
