Senior Surgical Physiotherapist 0.5 FTE /20 hours a week

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced physiotherapist to jointly lead our highly skilled and dedicated acute surgical team working at North Shore Hospital.
Waitematā is leading the way in digital innovation with electronic patient notes, e-prescribing and e-vitals. You will be working as part of a physiotherapy team providing quality assessment, intervention, rehabilitation and discharge planning through a patient centred approach with strong links with our community and outpatient services. This work includes provision of pre-op education for patients awaiting breast and upper abdominal surgery through our pre-op clinics.
Within this role you will receive Professional and Clinical Leadership development
This will include:
- Support of your personal objectives
- Education to be able to provide staff with professional development
- Learning opportunities to foster service development and leading quality care
- Training to provide professional supervision to staff
- Credentialing for weekend work
- Weekly in-service training
- Networking with clinical leaders, seniors and staff grades across the organisation
- Regular personal professional supervision for support and mentoring
- Opportunities to be involved in teaching and training for non-Allied Health staff across the DHB.
- Opportunity to implement, participate and develop research models
Key requirements of this role:
- New Zealand registered physiotherapist
- 5+ years of relevant and recent inpatient acute surgical experience
- Effective leadership skills and experience, demonstrate effective teamwork and collaboration with other seniors.
- Strong role model
- Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills
- Excellent acute clinical assessment and treatment skills within the surgical area
- Great organisational skills, time management and flexibility to be able to work in a constantly changing, fast paced environment
Hours of work will be spread across 3 days starting at 7:30 or 8am. Preferred working days are Mon – Wed.
