Our Infrastructure Delivery Central North Island Team have multiple exciting opportunities for passionate, collaborative Project Management and Delivery specialists to join and support projects across the Central North Island region.
As a Project Manager at Waka Kotahi, you will lead and deliver the forward work plan for capital transport projects as well as supporting Waka Kotahi's vision of efficiently delivering an integrated, safe, responsive and sustainable transport system, to create great journeys across the motu and to keep New Zealand moving.
They are multi-faceted roles, requiring sound leadership skills to collaborate and manage our suppliers' project teams. You'll collaborate and engage across Waka Kotahi, local authorities, and a variety of stakeholders and development partners ensuring that projects and pipelines are managed effectively and delivering optimal outcomes.
We have opportunities for a Principal Project Manager and two Senior Project Manager (Complex) to join the team and are also interested in hearing from other Project Manager professionals interested in joining Waka Kotahi in the near future.
We are looking for people across the region of Taranaki, Manawatu, and Hawkes Bay/Gisborne. The Central North Island offers a great lifestyle with vast pipeline of work including Te Ara o Te Ata Mt Messenger Bypass, Te Ahu a Turanga (Tararua-Manawatu highway), Otaki to North of Levin improvements, as well as an array of safety and regional improvement projects.

Our successful Project Managers will bring:
- Substantial experience in project management and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, including programme, financial and risk management
- An innovative, collaborative mindset and team focused approach to project delivery
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships across Waka Kotahi, all levels of government, key partners and the private sector
- A focus on leading detailed design and construction aspects in an End-to-End project management space
- Experience in managing contracts within the civil engineering industry and ideally a sound understanding of NZS3910
- A genuine passion to build on or develop an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori
Our Principal Project Manager will also bring proven leadership as you'll be leading a team as well as experience working on large/complex projects.
