Employed Caseload - Lead Maternity Carer (LMC) Midwives
Are you looking for a great friendly and welcoming community in which to bring up a family or just looking for a change for yourself.
South Canterbury is a great destination, stacked with beautiful outdoor environments for water sports, hiking, skiing, or simply soaking in natural beauty. Whether you are looking for adventure or a more peaceful change of pace, South Canterbury can offer a range of lifestyle choices for everyone. Timaru is an easy drive to Christchurch or Dunedin or inland to the gorgeous MacKenzie District and Aoraki Mt Cook.
Do you just want to get on and be the amazing caseload LMC midwife you know you are, self-managing your own caseload, whilst knowing you have all the benefits and security that goes with being an employee (as per the MERAS MECA). For example, payment of professional fees such as your annual practicing certificate, paid annual leave, sick leave, professional development leave and Kiwi Saver contributions.
Then read on, as this exciting opportunity at Aoraki Midwives lets you do just that.
We are a caseload (LMC) practice and part of Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury. Our team are passionate and committed midwives who take pride in making a difference and supporting each other.
Working for Aoraki Midwives means a capped caseload of 45 women per annum (4 - 5 women each per month) if full time and pro-rated if less than full time. We have our own purpose designed clinic rooms in central Timaru and your typical working day will be spent providing antenatal and postnatal care to women in Timaru and surrounds as well as labour and birth care.
As a full time midwife you will have two self rostered days off each week and - off - means - phones off - (you cover each other when on days off or on leave). Knowing exactly when you are going to have time off will help you enjoy a healthy work-life balance in our friendly and welcoming community.
Being employed, there are no set up costs, no business overheads or deductions, no GST or tax payments to plan for, no worrying about cover when you want to have leave and, importantly, a guaranteed fortnightly pay. We provide all your work-related equipment including laptop, iPad, phone etc, and shared work vehicles for visiting women.
Okay if this sounds like your dream job and you can say - yes - to the following, then we really want to talk with you now.
- Commitment to women centred continuity of care from early pregnancy through to six weeks after baby is born, including labour and birth secondary care
- Able to demonstrate understanding of and responsibilities under the principles of the te Tiriti o Waitangi - Treaty of Waitangi
- Self-motivation, able to demonstrate professional standards of practice, able to work well in a team environment and manage your own caseload
A registered midwife currently holding full registration (ideally with no restrictions or endorsements on your practice) or will be eligible for full registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.
