We have an exciting opportunity for a Kaumaatua to join and work with our Inpatient and Community Leadership groups to address health inequities for Maaori accessing Mental Health Services. This position is based at Tiaho Mai, Middlemore Hospital and reports to the Service Manager of Acute and Hospital Mental Health Services while working in close partnership with the Service Manager for Maaori Mental Health and the Rapua Whaioranga team.

 

You will play a key role in the development, implementation and monitoring of a documented Cultural Framework to umbrella Integrated Mental Health and Addictions using Tainuitanga and the Counties Manukau core Maaori values as its foundation.   

 

We are looking for an influential leader, fluent in Te Reo me ona Tikanga Maaori with comprehensive knowledge of Tainui kawa/tikanga. You will have a strong understanding of Maaori mental health issues and models of care with proven leadership, outstanding relationship building, communications skills and networks in Te Ao Maaori.

 

Essential:

• Positive attitude towards mental health tangata whaiora and whaanau

• Good understanding of the Mental Health and Addictions sector

• Fluent in Te Reo me ona tikanga and customary protocol

• Full NZ driver’s licence with no limitations
