Acute Resource Mental Health Support Worker at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Kenepuru Hospital/Porirua

Location: Porirua as main base but will be expected to be flexible and work across Wellington region

Service:  MHAIDS Operations Centre

Contract:  Permanent, Full Time

Salary:  $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate on experience

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The MHAIDS Operations Centre has a vacancy for an Acute Resource Mental Health Support Worker to work in permanent, rostered and rotating role full time for their team.  The main purpose of the role is to support the clinical team with practical tasks to allow clinicians to be more responsive to the acute mental health needs of individuals.  This may include transporting people, providing watches in the general hospital or the Emergency Department, and supporting individuals/families/whanau in a culturally appropriate way.  The role is part of a service which covers the Wellington, Porirua and Hutt Valley areas.

This is an exciting role, where you will enjoy a stimulating and encouraging team environment and gives you the opportunity to work closely with individuals, families and whānau who are experiencing a short term mental health crisis.  Our team is friendly, supportive and experienced and strive to do the best we can for the people we look after. 

Moū - About you

You will have:

  • An NZQA level 4 National Certificate in Mental Health and Wellbeing or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working in the mental health area
  • Excellent communication skills, with a willingness to learn and ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • A current NZ Full Drivers Licence
  • The ability to consent to a full Police Vetting Check under the Vulnerable Children's Act 2014
