About the role:

 

The Business Management team in Immigration New Zealand (INZ) is accountable for high quality and timely responses to requests made under the Official Information Act (OIA) and facilitates and completes a range of reporting documents for officials. 

 

The Senior Advisor BMT is a specialist role providing advice on Ministerial Servicing and business management within INZ.

 

As a Senior Advisor you will bring your depth of knowledge in parliamentary processes and strong writing skills to lead a significant portfolio of work to tell INZ's story.  In this role you will provide high quality written content for a wide range of OIA requests and ministerial reports. You will also bring strong mentoring and coaching skills to impart your knowledge across INZ and the BMT.

 

This role will be ideal for someone who has previous advisory experience in the public sector and is wishing to further develop themselves both professionally and personally – plenty of support will be provided to help achieve this.

Skills and experience required:

 

We are interested to hear from you if you have:

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of ministerial and machinery of government management processes
  • Knowledge of business planning cycles, accountability frameworks and reporting systems
  • Knowledge of the Official Information Act
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, problem solve and work constructively in managing difficult situations. 
  • Proven ability to develop trust and integrity with managers and staff
  • Ability to understand and process new information quickly
  • Ability to establish sound working relationships
  • Sound organisational and time management skills

 

Prerequisites 

  • You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
