This Tainui whakatauaakii urges us to develop connections and to work in a collaborative and integrated way towards a common vision. Counties Manukau Integrated Mental Health and Addiction services vision is to improve health outcomes for Maaori, Pacifica and all tangata whaiora within our community. We are looking for energetic, forward thinking Tauraawhiri (Cultural Advisors) to work with our clinical teams who provide specialist care for tangata whaiora and whaanau across the lifespan, from mokopuna to kaumaatua.

 

You will be part of a virtual mobile consultation and liaison team with a base in Papakura with Rapua Te Ao Waiora. You will work across community Mental Health and Addictions to ensure the cultural needs of Maaori tangata whaiora and their whaanau are addressed and woven into their wellness plans. The role includes cultural assessment and treatment, advice and education for staff, tangata whaiora and whaanau and relevant cultural rituals such as poowhiri and whakatau. Culturally, you will be responsible to the Kaikookiri; Lead Cultural Advisor Mental Health and operationally to the Team Manager of Rapua Te Ao Waiora.

 

Strong networks in the Maaori community, problem solving and conflict resolution, education expertise, experience working with complex Maaori whaanau and knowledge of Maaori Health and/or Maaori Mental Health are desirable skills.

Essential:

• Strong knowledge of tikanga Maaori

• Excellent communication skills in Te Reo Maaori and English in both oral and written form

• Confident use of IT systems

• Full driver’s licence
