Senior Clinical Psychologist / Kaimātai Hinengaro at Capital & Coast District Health Board (Wellington), Wellington Hospital

Service:  Early Intervention Service

Contract:  Permanent, Part-time, (20 hour per week / 0.5FTE / Monday ' Friday)

Salary:  As per MECA

Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the role

The role will involve:

  • Providing effective care management and key work based on Early Intervention principles. 
  • Working with community for the benefit of young people and their whanau
  • Developing and facilitating groups for clients and whanau as needed 
  • Delivering education and  training about early intervention in psychosis, as required

Mō tō mātou rōpū ' About our team

The Early Intervention Service is an innovative, creative multidisciplinary team which offers assessment and treatment to young people (13 to 25 years) presenting to mental health services with a first-time psychotic disorder ' we work hard to minimise the impact of the disorder on young peoples' lives through offering a client centred, strengths based and collaborative support programme. The team are inspired by the recovery'focused framework laid out in the book Recovery after a first episode of psychosis. We regularly evaluate our outcomes allowing us to constantly adjust, improve and innovate the services we provide. 

We provide a sub-regional service across the Greater Wellington Region (Welington, Poriua, Kapiti and Hutt)  as well as delivering consultation-liaison and training to mental health services in the Central Region DHBs. 

Moū ' About you

We are seeking a part-time permanent registered clinical psychologist to contribute to providing a high quality clinical psychology service in the assessment and treatment of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis, ensuring clients' needs are met in a culturally, clinically and legally safe manner.   You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide psychological assessments and interventions for clients.  You will also provide a range of other services to support the development and function of their teams and the organisation as a whole. These activities may include, but are not limited to: case consultation, staff training and supervision, running groups, leadership and involvement in service development activities, and research and evaluation-related activities.

A minimum of a Masters Degree in Psychology and Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent are required, as is registration with NZ Psychologist Board, with Clinical Psychology Vocational Scope of Practice and a current annual practising certificate.

Previous experience of working with young people is preferred.

A full drivers licence is essential.
