Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Working in a dynamic operational setting, the Associate General Manager position will be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to General Manager and Working in partnership with the Directors of the Service, you will take ownership of ensuring the delivery of safe and effective services within Adult Surgical and Perioperative teams and delivering sustainable results in the organisations strategic priorities. As a leader you will oversee the management of capital and operational expenditure budgets for all operating rooms suites, in conjunction with key internal stakeholders.
In a typical day you will be striving towards –
- Delivering Te Toka Tumai-Auckland’s legal obligations with respect to the Treaty of Waitangi and addressing health inequalities.
- ability to influence the culture of the directorate and ensure the vision of the organisation is emulated through concise actions
- Managing the highly complex nature of the business area and ensuring that the appropriate business plans are developed and delivered, within budget
- Operational risks are identified, and the appropriate mitigations implemented
- Ensuring the working environment meets health and safety requirements
- Ensure staff works productively and develop professionally

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
You will demonstrate an understanding of the significance of, and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including strong commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori.
You will be tertiary qualified with a track record in business and financial management preferably within the health sector. You will have experience of delivering effective healthcare services as a senior manager in a large, multifaceted healthcare environment including staff management, financial management and change management. Experience of strategic and operational management of perioperative services is an advantage.
You will show a strong evidence of an ability to develop a culture of innovation, performance and transparency focussed on the customer.
