International Engagement Coordinator – International Team at The Treasury, Wellington

The International team currently has a permanent position available for an International Engagement Coordinator.  The successful candidate will report to the Manager and will be part of a high performing, supportive and engaged team, but may also work across the Treasury more broadly.

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role

In this role you will provide support to the International Team and the wider Treasury to deliver domestic and offshore engagement with our key stakeholders. You will be required to work under the direction of staff in the International Team to manage inward visits and external travel by senior Treasury staff and Ministers. In addition, you will also be responsible for executing the relevant parts of the Treasury's External Engagement Strategy.

Key tasks include:

  • Working closely with the International Engagement sub-team to maintain a project plan and set of deliverables for engagements;
  • Reviewing and collating briefing materials;
  • Building relationships with the Ministers' office staff, agency stakeholders and diplomatic posts;
  • Administrative support, such as setting up meetings with stakeholders.

Ō pūmanawa | About You

The successful candidate will be either an established project coordinator, or have experience managing complex processes and bring:

  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including time management and prioritising work in a complex work environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A passion for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to change,
  • An ability to manage unexpected issues and problems that arise at the last minute
  • A proven ability to build effective relationships and confidence when dealing with senior staff and Ministers
  • Solid IT skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • A team-player mindset, and enjoy working collaboratively.
  • An interest in international relations.

This role provides an opportunity to gain experience at the heart of central government, be exposed to policy processes, contribute to the International Team's role of advising on improving our international connections, as well as understanding issues the Treasury works on. You will have a desire to take a proactive approach to this role and actively look for opportunities to learn about policy.

Experience working in central government would be advantageous, though is not essential.
