Fixed-term Registered Nurse, Theatres - Elective Surgery Centre at Waitemata District Health Board (North & West Auckland), Auckland

We’re looking for passionate and dedicated theatre Registered Nurses, to join our Elective Surgery Centre (ESC) as part of the Waitemata DHB Surgery and Ambulatory Services.

Daily basis and our work covers similar specialities to NSH theatres except Obstetrics and acute surgery.

ESC perioperative services consist of 6 preoperative rooms, four operating theatres, 12 recovery bays, and small day stay unit for our day cases.

Determined on a four week basis, our surgical schedules are shared by the following specialities: orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, ORL, plastics, and general surgery. Patients are admitted on the day of surgery both a day case as well as inpatient basis.  

The patient case mix covers a wide range of acuity from simple to complex and even robotic surgery, ESC being the centre which pioneered the robotic knee arthroplasties in New Zealand.

To be considered for this position, we’re looking for candidates with minimum 2 years of theatre nursing experience in general surgery, gynaecology, or urology. Alternatively, we would take into account your ability to demonstrate that theatre nursing is the career pathway you’ve always been aspiring to and understand what the role involves.  

In return, we can offer excellent teamwork on a Monday-Friday roster between 07:30-18:00 with no weekend or night shift requirements!
