Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity
Te Puni Kōkiri, the Ministry of Māori Development, has a Senior Advisor role in our People & Capability Advisory Team within the Organisational Support Puni. This role works in partnership with others (internally and externally) to enable Te Puni Kōkiri to maintain and enhance our capability to deliver efficient, effective, and economical outputs.
The Senior Advisor - People and Capability role will champion, contribute, and support the delivery of high-quality People and Capability advice.
A true generalist role, you will support managers through all facets of HR, which include:
- Employment Relations
- Change Management
- Workforce Planning and reporting
- Recruitment
The aim of the Senior Advisor is to become a true partner for their business unit and will leverage their influencing skills to assist with achieving better outcomes for all. They will also play an essential role in lifting manager capability for the above-mentioned facets.
The role forms part of a wider People and Capability Directorate and sits within our Advisory function.
The appointment range for this role is $86,599 - $119,466 per annum.

This opportunity is for a highly skilled HR practitioner that possesses the technical knowledge and expertise to support the organisation in making effective decisions surrounding its people.
To be successful in the role, you should have:
- Previous experience in a Senior HR Advisor/Business Partner role
- A deep technical understanding of Employment Relations and the associated legislation
- A good understanding of HR best practice and cyclical activities
- Knowledge of HR practice within the public sector (highly advantageous)
- A commitment to developing your individual capability surrounding te ao Māori
