Our Wellington Transport Operations Centre (WTOC) has a phenomenal opportunity for a Planned Works Manager to join the leadership team.
The Planned Works Manager is a new leadership role at WTOC, it provides the opportunity to shape and develop the Planned Works Function and team. As a key role in the WTOC leadership team, you are a key contributor to the strategic planning and wider alignment of TOC (Transport Operations Centre) operations nationally.
The Planned Works team supports the planning and delivery of planned roadworks and events across the State Highway network. This team works closely with teams within Waka Kotahi and with our contractors to ensure smooth operations across the network, to deliver safe and reliable journeys, ensuring that relevant information is available for our customers to enable smart choices for their journeys.

As a Planned Works Manager, you'll describe yourself as an authentic leader who is 'hands on' and people centric. Passionate about developing their team coupled with exceptional relationship building skills; a trusted partner who engages and collaborates with both varied stakeholders proactively.
You'll be a confident self-starter, who thrives working within a dynamic environment. You will be pragmatic and have a focus on understanding the bigger picture while ensuring positive day to day transport outcomes for all.
In addition, you'll be able to demonstrate:
- Operational experience and/or management experience in transport and/or similar operations. Preferably experience at the leadership, governance and management level.
- Public relations and representation of organisation at a regional and national level.
- A good understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements
- Good knowledge of operational processes design, system implementation and technology.
- Excellent attention to detail
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
