This is a 12-month, fixed-term 0.4 designated Senior Nursing role, covering parental leave, based at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim.
The successful candidate will contribute to the workforce and professional development across the wider organisation. The position works collaboratively alongside the wider nurse educator team.
Nurse educators are a key component to improving the experience of consumers by supporting the provision of a confident, evidence based approach. A large component of this role will be ensuring that education, professional development, clinical coaching working alongside the nursing teams and clinical quality systems are in place within and across surgical and peri-operative services to enhance care delivery including:
- Improving outcomes for patients and whānau by ensuring a responsive, compassionate, and safe experience.
- Prioritising equity, critical thinking and escalation pathways.
- Being an effective member of the nursing and MDT teams to strengthen our model of care to be integrated to best meet the needs of the patient in our care.
- Improving the experience for health care consumers, including their family and whānau by supporting the professional development of clinical staff who participate in the care of the patient.
- Key Contributor to the ongoing professional development growing of the nursing the nursing workforce.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You will be an experienced senior registered nurse with a current practicing certificate and experience working in surgical and peri-operative services and broad experience in across the health care setting. The successful applicant will have proven teaching ability in both formal and informal settings, and will have completed a Post graduate diploma and working towards a Masters or equivalent and if not have a commitment to completing.

The full-time equivalent salary for this position is $97,699 to $107,341 (Grade 4, Steps 1 to 4) of Designated Senior Nurse scale, dependent on qualifications and experience and registration in NZ.
