A new acute care building is currently being built with a commissioning date in 2025. You will be part of small but strong multidisciplinary acute and persistent pain team. The Acute Pain Service is supported by acute pain nurses and other anaesthetists. The Persistent Pain Service consists of another FPMANZCA pain specialist, a physiotherapist, psychologist, social worker, and a new chronic pain nurse to support acute inpatient, and outpatient transitional and persistent pain. There are good relationships with Palliative Care and the Alcohol and Drug services. Your role will be divided between outpatient clinics, inpatient acute and acute-on-chronic pain assessments, assisting with group pain education programs, and some registrar and house-officer teaching.
You would join a group of 23 Anaesthetic Consultants. The Anaesthetic service is supported by a full complement of Anaesthetic Technicians who assist at all anaesthetics. This is a teaching hospital with six Anaesthetic Registrars and a provisional fellow. Supervision and clinical teaching is expected.
A minimum of 0.5 FTE of pain service work is required, with the option to balance with Anaesthesia clinical work up to 1.0 FTE. Consideration for pain specialists with an alternate speciality may be an option pending accommodation by that specialty service. Please contact us to discuss.
