The Monitoring & Oversight (M&O) team is responsible for the licensing and monitoring of various sectors across Aotearoa's financial markets industry and engages with the likes of Banks, Insurers, Derivatives Issuers (DI), Discretionary Investment Management Services (DIMS), Managed Investment Schemes (MIS), Supervisors, AML/CFT Reporting Entities and Custodians. The M&O team also collaborates with other NZ and overseas Regulators including the RBNZ, the Commerce Commission, APRA and ASIC.
The FMA's remit and regulatory approach are expanding and evolving to have a stronger focus on conduct. We're currently on an exciting journey, to enable the growth of our organisation.
The Role - Te Tūranga
Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Senior Adviser to join our Auckland-based M&O team. In this role, you'll lead monitoring and thematic reviews, as well as championing licence application assessments and assessing instances of misconduct by licensed entities. As a senior member of the team, you'll also get the opportunity to mentor advisers/associate advisers as well as lead collaborative initiatives across diverse teams.
About you - Ō pūkenga
Key to your success in this role will be your ability to think critically and communicate effectively. We would like to hear from those who possess the following:
- 5+ years of work experience across compliance/risk, audit, legal, accounting, investigations or other transferable role within financial services industry
- Regulatory experience is highly desirable (but not essential)
- Demonstrated capability in leading projects or key initiatives
- Fantastic communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
While we are open to considering candidates from all backgrounds within the financial services industry, exposure to any of the following areas is a strong preference: AML, Derivatives Issuers, DIMS providers, Statutory Supervisors, MIS Managers, Broker/Custodians, Restricted and Workplace Savings Schemes.
