We are looking for a talented and dedicated advisor to join our Constitutional and Honours team.
The Cabinet Office has a unique place in the New Zealand public service, supporting the Governor-General, Prime Minister, Cabinet and Ministers in the conduct of executive government. It advises on a wide range of policy, constitutional and legal issues, and supports the recognition of outstanding New Zealanders through the New Zealand Royal Honours system.
About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
Focussed on supporting the Senior Legal Advisor and the Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet (Constitutional and Honours), you'll be responsible for:
- supporting the provision of advice to Ministers' offices on a range of matters, including before and after a general election
- undertaking a variety of project work as required
- providing support for OIAs and Privacy Act requests.

We're looking for a person with excellent written communication skills, who thinks clearly and logically, understands the importance of building relationships, and wants to work in a collegial, hard-working team with a strong sense of purpose and public service. You must have a high level of discretion, tact, and initiative, and be prepared to turn your hand to a range of tasks, big and small, in support of the work of the team. A law degree would be an advantage, but is not essential for the right candidate.
