Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has a crucial role to play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate change effects and this is an exciting opportunity for highly experience monitoring and reporting specialist to contribute to ensuring New Zealand is on track to achieve its first carbon budget targets.

As part of our Organisational performance team, you will support The Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) programme of work to deliver effective analysis, monitoring, and reporting of activities and their intended impacts.
This role ensures that information informs good governance and management decisions, and provides data, insights, and analysis to assess delivery of the CERF Programme.
You will be providing consistent and high-quality analytics and advice in a way that shows understanding of the intended impacts of the Climate Emergency Response Programme to end users.

You will take a proactive approach to your work and be well versed in monitoring and reporting on a wide span of information needs.
In addition, you will:'
- Possess a strong political nous - having the ability to tailor your reporting to the audience telling a story in both big picture and in detail
- Be a natural communicator, you will meet with a wider range of stakeholders across the organisation, to enable you to receive and analyse data information.
- Understand how to identify and develop key performance indicators to support analysis of programme effectiveness
- Have a good understanding of the machinery of government
- Have proven experience of reporting delivery
- Have experience of the analysis and synthesis of complex data and information across disciplines
A background in environmental studies and greenhouse gas emissions reporting is desirable.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.'

The Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF), using proceeds from the Emission Trading Scheme, has been established as an enduring, multi-year funding mechanism, to support Aotearoa New Zealand transition to a low-emissions and climate-resilient economy in a way that protects vulnerable communities.
The CERF will help fund the change needed to the transport system, alongside other funding sources, such as the National Land Transport Fund (NLTF) and local government sources.
