Retinal Screener (Permanent) Eye Department at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Auckland

We have vacancies within the Eye Department for a Retinal Screener.

In the community you will be undertaking diabetes retinal screening to assess and report on the eyes of people living with diabetes. You will be attending different locations across the Counties Manukau catchment each week, bringing variety to your day. Within the Hospital team, you will be responsible for conducting visual function evaluations of patients, in coordination with the Consultants, with a goal of providing accurate, efficient and a high standard optometric and other ophthalmic assessments.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated team member who demonstrates empathy, is willing to undertake training and learn new skills, be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment and have good computer, administrative and time management skills.

 

In return you will have a unique opportunity to expand and develop a broad range of technical expertise and work with some of the latest technology in a friendly and very supportive team of professionals.

 

Training in all areas will be provided. The preferred applicant, while they may not have worked in healthcare before, must have a passion to learn and to help others. You need to have a full, clean driver’s licence in order to drive our fleet vehicles and know how to drive a manual vehicle.

 

Essential:

• Willingness to learn and engage

• Desire to make a difference to our South Auckland Community

• Full, clean driver’s licence

• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills

 

Desired:

• At least two years’ experience working in a healthcare setting

• Related Health Qualification

• Insight into diabetes
