Mō tātou Ratonga | About our Service
Tokoroa Hospital sees 13,000+ patients a year through its emergency department and has a 17 bed inpatient ward. There is also a four bed primary birthing unit on site run by an employed associate CMM and independent midwives.
There are plain radiology and lab services on site during working hours and on call after hours. Specialist clinics are run by visiting specialists from the tertiary referral centre, Waikato hospital is one hour away by road.
The clinical work consists of trauma and medical emergencies, paediatrics, geriatric medicine, and family medicine.
The work is very rewarding and the case mix is interesting and varied, from primary and urgent care to critical emergencies. There is opportunity to do a variety of emergency procedures. As a rural hospital with an inpatient ward there is opportunity to admit and provide ongoing care for patients.

The applicant will need to demonstrate a high level of confidence in independent decision making.
There is opportunity to teach students, house officers and trainees and to do audit and research.
