Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, leads the day-to-day running of our health system across New Zealand, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.

We are looking for an incredible Orthopeadic Surgeon to join our team of Specialists in a Fixed Term role Maternity Cover. Our Orthopeadic Department provides acute and elective services for more than our Canterbury Population. As a tertiary centre, we provide a number of key specialist services across the South Island and the lower half of the North Island. This extends to providing on the West Coast at Greymouth Base Hospital the orthopeadic elective service for the West Coast District Health Board.
Our orthopeadic service provides over 5000 acute surgeries each year, and this is growing. We have a trauma unit, and one of only two spinal unit's in New Zealand - we are number one when it comes to trauma care. Our Department has a strong reputation for providing excellent training and research. The members of our Orthopeadic Surgical Department work closely together in a collaborative and supportive environment, and function extremely well as a team.
