Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Strategy and Funding Directorate is looking for a Strategic Projects Manager who will lead the development and implementation of system innovations, effective models of care and service delivery that will achieve system transformation in the adult mental health sector.
Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Strategy Development your role is to lead the development and implementation of new models of care and service delivery to transform mental health services with a particular focus on radically improve Māori Health and inequities across the Waikato.

The objective of the System Transformation project is to transform Mental Health services across the continuum of care including Acute Inpatient, Primary and Community services and Staffed Residential Services. The ultimate aim is to reduce the inflow of patients reaching a level of acuity requiring admission to the Acute Inpatient Facility.
If you are committed to making a difference to the population of the Waikato and have the ability to drive change that leads to improved outcomes and the elimination of inequities this may be the role for you. From time to time there may be opportunities to work on projects across the Te Manawa Taki region. An understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga will be an advantage.

Required skills & experience you will need to be consider for this role:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the ability to think outside the box, have strong project management experience, be resilient with a “can do attitude” and experience in the health system. A comprehensive understanding of the Iwi landscape is very important.
You will have experience working with partners to advocate for and support implementation of quality improvement, in reviewing and co-designing services. Your leadership style will be inclusive and based on principles of service to our community. Communication lies at the heart of all that you do. Partners in this context will include maintaining a respectful and collaborative working relationship with external project services providers during the course of their engagement with the project.
