The Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Service (SMHAS) of Te Whatu Ora – Waitematā is looking for a Lived Experience Professional Lead to join the SMHAS leadership team.
He kōrero mō mātou – About us
Waitematā is the largest District within Te Whatu Ora. SMHAS is the largest set of mental health, addiction and intellectual disability services in the country. We provide a range of services within the District as well as services that span the region, and for one service, the upper North Island.
As a Division, we are committed to working in partnership with people with lived experience of services and to improving access to peer support. We currently have an employed lived experience workforce of 12fte and this role will help guide the practice of the team, and provide them with professional support in their roles.
He kōrero mō te tūranga – The role
Reporting to the Director SMHAS, you will provide information and advice that ensures the needs, interests and rights of consumers and whanau contribute to the design and delivery of specialist mental health and addiction services. You will strengthen the roles and voices of our lived experience workforce and design the model for increased access to peer support for people engaged across our services.
He kōrero mōu – About you
You will bring substantial lived experience knowledge and perspective of Mental Health and Addiction and/or intellectual disability service provision, either having engaged with services for you or as whānau. You will have strong relationship skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; and experience of working in partnership. You will be committed to helping overcome inequities in health care provision.
You will be based within Waitematā although some of the services we provide cover the greater Auckland metropolitan area and beyond. There will be the opportunity to link regionally and nationally with colleagues in similar roles.
