We are seeking a Public Health Advisor to join the dedicated National Public Health Service team in Taranaki. This rewarding position is responsible for evidence-based public health action and reducing inequities in health through the planning, implementation and evaluation of high-quality public health programmes.
You will utilise your skills in advocacy and collaboration to address the determinants of health and reduce inequities, particularly for Māori, including applying a ‘Health in All Policies’ approach. It is important that you have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, are naturally inquisitive and comfortable working in a team environment. A sound working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential.
Experience in using or knowledge of health promotion frameworks and equity tools, along with experience in working collaboratively as part of intersectoral groups, and including local government, towards shared objectives will be valuable to the role. You must have a current driver's licence.
A tertiary level qualification (minimum three year degree level or equivalent) in public health, social science, communications or Māori studies, development or Reo Māori is required. Postgraduate qualifications in public health are desirable. You must have a current driver's licence.
