Emergency Medicine Specialist - Fixed-term at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Nelson Marlborough, Wairau Hospital

Are you an Emergency Medicine Specialist or Rural Hospital Specialist with an interest in Emergency Medicine looking to work in one of New Zealand - s most sought-after regions? We invite you to come and work at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim, Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand for 12 months 

  • FTE negotiable - preferred 0.8FTE (64 hours a fortnight)
  • Be a part of a dynamic Emergency Medicine team
  • Rostered and rotating through Monday to Sunday

Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki ēnei mahi (About these positions)
The successful candidate will:

  • Join a supportive multidisciplinary team including 5 FACEMs, 2 FDRHMNZs, a Nurse Practitioner, 6 RMOs, and an excellent Nursing team.
  • Supervise and participate in teaching of junior medical workforce. 
  • Perform and supervise a large spectrum of Emergency department procedures.

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
The ideal applicant will:

  • Have ED experience and knowledge of the unique demands in a provincial hospital.
  • Hold FACEM, FDRHMNZ, or equivalent.
  • Be eligible for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational scope of Emergency Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Enjoy working together to improve cohesive care for our small community.

The salary for this position is based on the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement dependent on skills, experience, and vocational registration in NZ. Meca | ASMS

In addition to your salary and on-call allowance, you will:

  • Receive a generous annual allowance cover your continued medical education expenses (including associated travel and accommodation costs) as well as paid time off to attend events including international conferences.
  • Have access to an employer matched Superannuation contribution of up to 6% of annual earnings.
  • Be reimbursed competitive relocation, accommodation and car rental expenses (conditions apply).

Wairau Hospital is a recent purpose facility with 65 beds including General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, and O&G services onsite. We have regular visits from sub-specialists out of Nelson and Christchurch hospitals.
