Consumer Engagement Advisor at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Taranaki, Taranaki

1 FTE (80 hours per fortnight)

Do you have a passion for advocating patient safety and patient centred quality outcomes across health services at a governance and operations level?

 

We are seeking to recruit a suitable applicant to become our next Consumer Engagement Advisor. You will be teamed up with The Clinical Governance Support Unit as well as linking in with our newly established Consumer Council

 

Your primary function of the role is to develop, lead and implement the Taranaki DHB Consumer Engagement Framework. You will also provide advice, training and support on consumer-engagement related activities across Te Whatu Ora Taranaki.

 

We are seeking applications from people who place a high priority on working in partnership with patients and family/whanau and who want to make our health systems better for all consumers living in our communities.

 

Education, skills and experience required are detailed in the position description and include:

  • Relevant knowledge about healthcare systems supported by a tertiary qualification or relevant experience.
  • Experience working at a clinical or management level in the health sector.

  • Evidence of training or self-directed learning in relation to patient experience and consumer engagement methodologies.

  • Evidence or training or self-directed learning in relation to quality and patient safety systems and quality improvement methodologies.

  • Ability to work with patients, family/whanau and TDHB staff in a partnership model.

  • Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to influence effective change.

  • Ability to facilitate and lead meetings/teams.

  • Well developed and advanced problem-solving skills.

  • Highly organised, accurate and with effective time management skills.
