Clinical Psychologist - Marinoto North Child, Youth and Family Mental Health Services at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitematā, Auckland

At Te Whatu Ora Waitematā, the Marinoto, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Team offers expert assessment and treatment to clients across the age range from 4 to 18 years. We are currently looking for experienced Clinical Psychologists to join us. The role involves providing assessments to include brief and some long term interventions for service users and psychological consultancy to the team and whole-service delivery. There is scope for development of the role and of the therapeutic environment. The role offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team, peer support, consumer and cultural advisors, and to work alongside service users and their family/whanau as they navigate a time of mental health crisis, to help them make sense of their experiences in the context of their lives, and to move towards resolution of that crisis and recovery.

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Psychologist with:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent 
  • Registration with the NZ Psychology Board as a Registered Psychologist with a Clinical Scope of practice
  • Current Practicing Certificate
  • Proven psychological, psychometric and neuropsychological assessment skills 
  • Experience in brief psychological interventions preferred
  • Experience in Child Youth and Family mental health settings preferred
  • The ability to work autonomously and within short timeframes


The Clinical Psychologist role is supported by a professional senior (Principal Psychologist – Adult MHS) and a professional advisor (Psychology Lead Advisor WDHB) within Mental Health Services. You will also be part of a broader team of 25 psychologists across adult mental health services. Under the APEX collective contract psychologists receive up to $2500 each per year for Continuing Professional Development which can be accumulated over two years to $5000. This offers the chance to attend overseas conferences or multiple workshops, plus books, and subscriptions each year.
