Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking talented finance professionals looking to take the next step in their career to fill our Assistant Management Accountant position. You will be someone who is able to work in a fast paced, large and complex organisation and will be developed to become a real time trusted business advisor who will support and partner with the managers in adding value to the decision making process by offering insight and analysis.
In this role you will provide support to the Mental Health directorate and deal with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the business. Reporting to the Business Service Manager, this busy and varied role will require you to prepare, develop and analyse financial and output performance, meet month end deadlines and establish budgets alongside managers. You will also be required to support managers in business planning, business case and investment development, costing of services, contracts, project work and other ad-hoc business needs.

The Finance Directorate comprises a number of teams accountable for the processes and systems for effective financial management and reporting for the organisation as well as all regulatory reporting, treasury and taxation requirements. We work closely together to provide financial leadership and direction and establish financial policies and procedures that support best practice. The teams within the Finance Directorate are the Central Accounting Team, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Management Accountants who provide support to Directorates.

We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude, who can pick things up quickly and has a willingness to learn new skills. You will be someone who has a real passion to work within the health sector, and do work that makes a meaningful difference within our communities.
This role would best suit someone who has some finance/accounting experience and looking to further progress in their career. You will have experience in partnering across the business to achieve outcomes, and are proactive to drive continuous improvements. This role will offer you a challenging and exciting environment to develop, grow and gain exposure across the organisation. Excellent communication skills is also required.
Further skills and experience we are looking for:
- Relevant Accounting Degree at tertiary level (or equivalent qualification/experience)
- Ideally working toward CA (or similar) qualifications
- Experience dealing with the complexities of a large or diverse organisation
- Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues across all levels
