Registered Nurses | Ashburton Hospital at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury, Ashburton

  • Dedicated Registered Nurses required for permanent part-time and fixed-term part-time positions.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Seeking Registered Nurses for Acute & Inpatient Services including AAU and Wards 1&2. The RN will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager over the Inpatient Services at Ashburton Hospital, including the Duty Nurse Managers, Acute Admitting Unit, Ward 1 (Acute Medical) and Ward 2 (ATR & NWB).

The AAU see a diverse range of presentations, ranging from Triage 1 for immediate resuscitation through to Triage 5 who require less urgent care. Experience in emergency/acute care work, phlebotomy and being cannulation certified is advantageous. 

Ward 1 is a 21-bed acute medical ward based at Ashburton Hospital. In this fast-paced environment, our team care for a wide variety of patients including high dependency, medical and palliative care patients. 

Ward 2 is Assessment, Treatment and rehab along with Non-weight bearing patients, consisting of 18 beds.

This roles are based in Ashburton Hospital which is one of only four level three rural hospitals in the South Island, and the largest rural health facility in Canterbury.

  • 0.9FTE Part-time Fixed Term until January 2024
  • 0.8FTE Part-time Permanent

  • Confident practitioner with exceptional negotiating skill and knowledge 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide variety of people
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to problem solve across all clinical areas of Ashburton Hospital when required
  • Ability to work well under pressure within the nursing team

  • Acute medical or surgical experience is essential
  • A NZ Registered Nurse with current Annual Practising Certificate
