Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Hutt Valley, Lower Hutt

Service:     Intensive Care Unit (ICU) 

Contract:   Permanent Part Time 

Salary:       as per MECA, RN step 5-7 dependant on experience

We are a combined ICU/HDU where patients are able to transition between levels of care without leaving the unit. We are as up-to-date as medical facilities get, with brand new equipment and the patient-focussed design you - ll be thrilled at the quality of care you can provide.

With recent funding granted our ICU is going through an exciting expansion which will open the doors for further learning and development of each individual nurse. ICU will expand to 8 fully staff beds and a 24/7 Patient at Risk Service. Early 2023 will see the introduction of renal replacement therapy in the unit.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

Hutt Hospital is a busy 260-bed facility providing secondary services for Lower and Upper Hutt cities. We are the tertiary centre for regional plastics, oral maxillofacial, burns and rheumatology services.

Our team delivers acute life support to critically ill patients, around 700+ patients will come through the unit each year. 60% of these patient are acute medical admissions. However as a Regional Burns and Plastics centre we support post-operative major reconstructive surgery as our other main speciality.

Each shift you - ll be responsible for the assessment, care and treatment of one or two patients, with autonomy in your scope of practice. You - ll work with patients of all ages, from young children to geriatric, and their whanau.

You - ll be an adaptive, hardworking nurse who - s empathetic and can quickly build a rapport with patients and their whanau, sometimes in highly stressful situations. Critical care nursing experience is desired
