We’re embarking on a sustainability transformation.
This is a new and exciting opportunity where you’ll be responsible for leading, influencing and embed sustainability within Te Mana Rererangi Tūmatanui o Aotearoa I Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAA).
We’re looking to appoint an experienced and influential Head of Sustainability to lead, inspire change and champions and drives manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga – care for people and for place – within the CAA. You will be accountable for developing and then leading and executing the delivery of the CAA sustainability transformation with the drive and pace we need to, and to a high standard.
Ko tāu e whakarato ai │ What you’ll deliver
You’ll have the capacity to understand the larger context and turn relevant insights into practical solutions for the Authority, both big and small. You will drive infrastructure and process optimisation whilst working with an agile mindset, you’ll be an excellent communicator, educator and change agent. You’ll have an engagement style that is both constructive, influential and outcome orientated. You invest the thinking and time to make sure there is clarity on what matters most and invest your time accordingly.
Here’s the broader responsibilities you’ll deliver:
· Align Sustainability with CAA strategy – link sustainability processes and initiatives to the achievement of our vision, goals, and objectives
· Develop a clear strategic vision integrating social, environmental, and economic dimensions and connect it to a range of local and global issues that are positively influenced by our core business activities
· Build sustainability ownership across the CAA to enable our people to embrace autonomy, responsibility and accountability
· Ensure effective communication, education and promotion of sustainability philosophy, initiatives, and programs to internal and external stakeholders; actively participate in the development of a sustainability communication strategy.
· Develop appropriate goals, metrics, and process for measuring sustainability performance
Ko tāu e kawe mai ai | What you’ll bring
· A background in sustainability consulting, professional services or advisory positions and Senior / Lead capacity will be highly favoured
· Experience working in a large and complex organisation – global scale and geography adds further value
· Expertise in key sustainability and environmental issues including the science of climate change, supply chain considerations, circular economy principles, sustainable finance, global and domestic regulatory and political considerations
· A deep understanding of and experience with sustainability reporting and disclosure methodologies and frameworks
