An opportunity exists for a Urology Fellow to
join our team of Urology specialists.
The Urology service provides a comprehensive
inpatient and outpatient urology service for the Wellington region, including the
Hutt Valley and Wairarapa.
We are looking for an applicant who has either
completed their Urology training or who is in their final year of training and
is looking for a role that allows them to work in a supportive supervised
environment. This will allow the successful applicant to gain further
experience as an independent specialist. We require someone who thrives on
change and being busy. Teaching and supervision of RMO - s is an important part
of the role.
DUTIES
- Provide acute and elective clinical care and supervision across outpatient, inpatient and theatre services
- Participate in an acute on call roster
- Participate in relevant service and clinical meetings
- Assist with the supervision and training of Resident Medical Officers
- Contribute to service and organisational initiatives
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The successful candidate will be joining a team of 7 urologists and 6 specialist clinic nurses, working out of a dedicated department. The service is a regional one, delivering a large proportion of patient care from Wellington Regional Hospital, with some surgery at Kenepuru Hospital. Building work is currently underway for a new department, with enhanced clinical areas. This is due to open mid-2023. The SMO team is supportive of nurse-led practice and will be assisting in the development of enhanced pathways for some procedural areas across 2023.

- Must be registered or be eligible for registration as a Medical Specialist with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ - information available on the Immigration New Zealand website.
