Do you have experience in Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, implementing evidence-based practice, management of patients with higher clinical complexity, promoting high standards of clinical practice and service development, supporting & developing staff and providing clinical expertise within the acute orthopaedic service and to other disciplines. We have an opportunity for you to grow clinically, develop leadership skills in relevant quality improvement, service development and research activities.
We are seeking an enthusiastic NZ registered physiotherapist to join our experienced orthopaedic team. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your clinical skills whilst developing skills in leadership/management and research.
Your clinical caseload will be varied ranging from working in the Emergency Department, (which is one of the busiest ED’s in NZ), with acute admissions to the emergency department to working on the acute orthopaedic wards with pre/post-operative elective surgery and acute trauma including Acute Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI). Counties Manukau District is the Northern Regional Spinal Cord Injury Centre which includes a 4 bedded SCI Unit on the acute orthopaedic ward. The team is based over two sites: Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Surgery Centre.
If successful, you will be required to contribute to the supervision, training and development of rotational staff, physiotherapy students and rehabilitation assistants. The role also includes weekend and on-call duties.
Support is offered through the section head, Allied Health Professional Lead for Physiotherapy and other senior physiotherapists (5) within the team. Our team, department and MDT have well established in-service programmes which help promote continuous and collaborative learning.

Essential:
• NZ Registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
• Minimum of 3 years clinical experience, including recent acute respiratory skills
• Minimum of 8 months orthopaedic experience
• Supervision of rotational staff and students
• Full drivers’ licence
Desirable experience:
• Experience of audit and research
