Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau District has an exciting clinical leadership position available to an Occupational Therapist, who is ready to take the next step. This role can be combined with a clinical role, if needed.
The Professional Leader – Occupational Therapy (PL-OT) is primarily responsible for providing clinical leadership and ensuring that Occupational Therapists competently deliver services that are underpinned by the best clinical practice to an agreed set of standards and service requirements.
This position is responsible for providing professional leadership and direction of the OT workforce to deliver quality care by working in partnership with practitioners and other key staff across the organisation’s divisions and community services and undertaking some specialised clinical work. The PL-OT is responsible for supporting operational managers to ensure the most efficient, effective and appropriate OT services are provided to CMH patients within the resources available.
The position requires close collaboration with Service Managers and Operations Managers, CDAHST/Professional Leaders from the other Allied Health professions and Service Leadership teams regarding operational service delivery, strategic activities, business planning and projects.
Our preferred candidate would have experience in leadership and will also bring a strong clinical background into this role. Emotional intelligence, a good understanding of cultural perspectives and strong problem-solving skills are vital to be successful in this role, as is an ability to demonstrate tact in complex decision making.

Essential:
- Registration and an Annual Practising Certificate through OTNZ
- 5 - 10 years clinical experience
- Effective involvement in the development and implementation of clinical initiatives across Allied Health
- Proven experience in leading teams, projects and initiatives
