Dental Receptionist/Kiripaepae at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Wellington Hospital

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital/Kenepuru Hospital. Wellington based with one day a fortnight rostered in Kenepuru. Role required to work across the service when required.

Service:  Dental & Oral Health Service

Contract:  Permanent 32 hours per week 

Salary:  $67,932- $70,951 (pro-rated)

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Dental and Oral Health Services at Wellington Regional Hospital are seeking a receptionist to join our busy team to provide an efficient and effective reception service to patients and clinicians of the service. This role is Monday - Thursday and is based at Wellington site and from time to time work will be undertaken at Kenepuru Hospital to support the services needs across the service. The service is operational from 7am to 4.30pm

Some of your duties will include:

  • Assisting patients
  • Managing & coordinating booking system
  • Answering and directing telephone calls
  • Maintaining accurate data records
  • Invoicing patients and banking
  • Managing administration tasks as required
  • Ordering blood & radiology referrals
  • Using network data
  • ACC management

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

 The Dental and Oral Health Service provides dental care for many patients across two sites (Wellington and Kenepuru Hospitals) and while working with us you will have the opportunity to experience the different patient mix at both locations. You will be interacting with patients who require admission for their dental care, children, patients who have suffered acute trauma, and patients who require essential dental treatment as part of their medical or surgical treatment. You will also provide a service to some low-income individuals who are in pain.

Our team consists of senior dentists/ oral medicine & oral surgery specialists/ house surgeons/ clinical and dental technicians/ receptionists/ dental assistants/ booking clerk and registered nurse.

Moū - About you

The successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal and customer skills, a genuine desire to help people, be flexible and organised and keen to work in a fast paced environment. You will also have proven office administration and reception experience.

  • Experience in a dental or health environment helpful but not necessary
  • Exceptional multi-tasking/ organizational/ communication skills
  • Reception/admin experience preferred
  • Experienced in outlook/ word/ excel/ competent IT skills
  • Fast learner
  • Can work as a team player and also independently.
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Can think outside the box to problem solve
  • Keen to learn
