An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Social Worker to join the Starship Community Team!  Are you:

We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We are part of Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

Starship Community is an interdisciplinary team of professionals providing nursing, allied health, technical and cultural support to children, young people and their families living within the Auckland DHB area. We are looking for an experienced, motivated and dynamic social worker with a passion for working with children, their families and whanau.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Your focus will be providing social work support to children and their families and whanau who have high health and social needs in the community.

This position offers an ideal opportunity for you to develop or extend your social work expertise, as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will benefit from regular formal supervision, peer review, collegial support and active participation in education and in-service programmes.

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday based out of Greenlane Clinical Centre. As the role is a community role, a full and clean NZ drivers licence is also required.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

The successful applicant needs to be a NZ Registered Social Worker with a current Annual Practising Certificate. Previous experience working in a health setting and in child protection would be an advantage. Experience working with Maori and Pacific communities is desired. The ability to work autonomously in a multi-cultural environment is essential.
