The Chronic Pain Service at Counties Manukau District is seeking a Health or Clinical Psychologist to join their team.

 

At Te Whatu Ora - Counties Manukau District, psychologists work as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide psychological assessments and interventions for clients of their teams. They also provide a range of other services to support the development and function of their teams and the organisation as a whole. These activities include, but are not limited to: case consultation, staff training and supervision, leadership and involvement in service development activities, and research and evaluation-related activities.

 

The Chronic Pain Service Clinic provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for people with chronic pain. The service has a strong interdisciplinary focus, providing multidisciplinary assessments, single and multi-disciplinary interventions, and group pain management programmes for sufferers of chronic pain from South Auckland.

 

This role involves providing group psychological assessment and treatment services for Chronic Pain Service patients, involving as appropriate their family/whanau.

 

Interventions commonly used by chronic pain team psychologists include individual therapy (often with a strong CBT or ACT focus), therapeutic groups, psycho-educational groups, behaviour management, and case consultation.

 

This position is open to Psychologists who are registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Registration Board, who hold a current annual practising certificate and who have suitable qualifications and training for working in clinical settings such as a Pain Clinic.

 

Essential:

  • Registration or eligibility to be registered with the NZ Psychologists Board in a clinical scope
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate
  • A current full, clean driver’s licence
