Nurse Specialist - Liaison Psychiatry at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Auckland

  • Full-time role (40 hours), rostered Monday to Sunday

 

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

The Liaison Psychiatry team is based at Auckland City Hospital and comprises Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioner, Consultant Psychiatrists; including liaison, addiction and neuropsychiatry specialists, a Clinical Psychologist and Registrar, all of whom are well supported by a great admin team.

The team regularly take student nurses and medical students on clinical placements so there is opportunity to be involved in their learning experience. The work environment is sociable, friendly and supportive. We are committed to ongoing professional development and to encouraging people to undertake non clinical duties such as teaching.

As a Nurse Specialist you will be involved in urgent and planned assessments, planning and delivering care and treatment to whaiora throughout the hospital as well as assessing all people presenting with self-harm in the Emergency Department.

The work is complex and challenging and you will need to be able to think on your feet and be skilled, adaptable and responsive. Your passion for mental health nursing and ability to practise autonomously will be evident and you will join a functional and highly skilled team of senior nurses in a supportive multi-disciplinary team.  

The role involves working rostered morning and afternoon shifts Monday to Sunday and there may be a requirement to do some night shifts.

This role is permanent, full-time 1 FTE (40 hours per week) but we are able to consider applications from nurses wanting to work part time, minimum 4 days per week. We are also happy to consider a secondment from within or outside ADHB

Remuneration will be at Grade 5 of the senior nursing scale, of the Mental Health & Public Health Nursing (PSA).  For further details, please refer to the position description here.

 

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

To be eligible you will need to be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with NZ registration, a current APC. Ideally you will have completed a Post Graduate Certificate in a relevant area of specialty practice.
