Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapist (Full Time) Respiratory Medicine, Te Whatu Ora at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Counties Manukau, Auckland

We have an exciting opportunity available to an experienced and enthusiastic Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapist based at Middlemore Hospital, and associated sites.

 

This new opportunity has been created from funding initiatives in Cardiorespiratory Outpatient Physiotherapy and the Department of Respiratory Medicine teams. The successful candidate will join a well-established, growing and dynamic team which includes a section head physiotherapist, nurse manager, physiotherapists including physiotherapy advanced clinicians, respiratory nurses, respiratory consultants and physiotherapy assistants. The wider team includes other care providers including community stakeholders, non-profit organisations and tertiary care providers. 

 

The physiotherapy team primarily provide respiratory care to youth and adults with respiratory conditions including COPD, asthma, breathing pattern disorders and bronchiectasis, as well as people with concurrent health conditions including neuro-muscular weakness. Opportunities also exist to work in the interdisciplinary post-COVID clinic. These physiotherapy services are provided through pulmonary rehabilitation, disordered breathing clinics, bronchiectasis and interdisciplinary clinics across multiple sites, including the community within the Counties Manukau catchment area. 

 

These innovative teams work to provide better, sooner and more convenient care for patients resident in the Counties Manukau region. The post holder will work within physiotherapy and respiratory medicine teams and have the potential to shape service provision in this evolving and fulfilling practice area. Post-graduate education and research is actively supported.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least 12 months of cardio-respiratory experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with patients and their families, and other members of the health team. 

 

Essential: 

• New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with current APC 

• Full, clean driver’s licence 

• Minimum 8 months experience in Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapy 

 

Desirable: 

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Physiotherapist
