We have an opportunity for an experienced Speech Language Therapist with a wide variety of clinical expertise to lead an innovative group of Speech Language Therapists based at Middlemore Hospital. This is a fixed term position to cover parental leave that commences approximately February 2023 until December 2023.

As the Section Head, you will be the lead driver of this group of professionals to ensure that service expectations are met with a focus on the people we care for. You will be part of a team that takes an inter-disciplinary approach to care, working alongside other clinical leaders and senior management to ensure a high standard of care is provided at all times. This is a unique opportunity to extend and develop your management and leadership experience, in addition to managing a clinical caseload.

To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication skills, you will bring an innovative approach to resolving issues and work well in an IDT environment. You will be involved in the supervision and development of staff. There is scope for involvement in service development, staff education, and quality improvement.

Essential

• New Zealand registered Speech Language Therapist
• Extensive clinical experience and knowledge of Speech Language Therapy practice
• A minimum of five years clinical experience in a relevant area of practice
• Experience /competency in instrumental swallowing assessment
• Experience with dysphagia caseload
• Full NZ driver's licence

Desired

• Experience in leading/managing/co-ordinating a health team 
• Experience with a paediatric caseload
• Post Graduate qualification or equivalent in relevant clinical area
