Mō te tūnga | About the role
Our Operating Theatre Suite at Christchurch Hospital consists of 28 theatres which provides acute and elective operating from all surgical specialties on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis.
We are now looking for a Specialty Clinical Nurse to join our larger nursing team, which includes Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners. As a positive role model in clinical leadership you will work across the Operating Theatres, working collaboratively and supporting our CNS and wider MDT to promote excellence in nursing practice.
This role is permanent, full-time however there is the opportunity for this to be a
job-share part-time position, please advise the required FTE you would like considered in your cover letter.
Ko wai koe | About You
As a Specialty Clinical Nurse you will provide support and coaching to nursing staff of all levels, from the novice to the expert in the assessment, planning and implementation of nursing care.
Through an interactive and collaborative approach you will engage one on one with the nurses, assisting them in the attainment of new knowledge and skills, and providing leadership and consultancy for nursing practice.
Your clinical expertise, alongside a broad operating theatre knowledge will place you perfectly as a specialist resource for our team. You will be working with colleagues in the in providing nursing care, teaching and operating theatre list management. Your proven clinical capability will allow you to ensure high standards of care and education are maintained and improved patient outcomes are provided.
Self-motivated, organised with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people is paramount in this role. You will be an advanced nursing practitioner with excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills.

- A minimum of 4 years clinical expertise in Operating Theatre Nursing is essential
- Experience in clinical teaching and or coaching/mentoring is essential along with a post graduate qualification relevant to General Nursing
