The purpose of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into COVID-19 Lessons (Royal Commission) is to strengthen Aotearoa New Zealand's preparedness for, and response to, any future pandemic by identifying the lessons learned from New Zealand's response to COVID-19 that should be applied in any future pandemic.

About You:

We are looking for a Head of Policy and Research to be a key member of our Executive Leadership Team. You will be responsible for shaping and overseeing the policy and research work programme for the Inquiry. You will be leading a team of specialists to gather and analyse information, providing high-quality, evidence-based advice to the Commissioners and the Executive Director. The work will be wide-ranging and will form a significant contribution to the findings and recommendations of the Inquiry.

If you have the following skills and experience, we would really like to hear from you:

  • Demonstrated experience of working in a fast-paced, ambiguous programme environment, focussing on timely delivery of policy and research products.
  • Proven leadership of research or policy teams that have delivered complex work programmes.
  • Experience and understanding of working in accordance with the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles.
  • Strong understanding of research, policy and legislative environments.
  • Excellent personal and communication skills.

You will be proactive and collaborative in your working style, with the ability to easily engage and influence a range of stakeholders, and others across the programme.
