Looking to the future, to an ambitious enterprise strategy and to changes in the world of work, it's clear that what ACC needs from People and Culture is changing, and the Group is reorientating itself to deliver on these opportunities.
About the role:
Our Principal Advisors are thought leaders focused on the two to five year horizon, responsible for deeply understanding ACC's business strategy and working through communities of practice to help implement the strategy from a people perspective. They will use their understanding of our strategic direction and their significant subject matter expertise to provide advice that supports development of a new People Strategy and its associated plans. Our Principal Advisors are expert facilitators and influencers who communicate clearly and concisely using plain language. They help translate high level strategic thinking into pragmatic people-oriented solutions that our senior leaders can easily support, our People and Culture Group can implement, and our people can adopt. Our Principal Advisors are likely to bring applied experience of embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi or using a Te Ao Māori approach to their work.
This role is new. It's an integral part of a significant shift within the People & Culture Group and an exciting time to join a newly formed team. You'll be using your prior experience to help lift the capability and build technical depth of practitioners across People and Culture, as well as providing insights to continually improve our people's experience of working with ACC.
This role can be based at one of our centers across the country.
About you:

A big part of this role will be using research and analysis to determine how shifts in our strategy and ways of working could impact ACC's performance, and providing advice about what we can do to shift ACC's culture to support improved outcomes. For example, our new hybrid working approach plays a part in our culture system at ACC. This role might be asked to consider the current performance of the approach, future costs and benefits associated with it, and how to mitigate for any risks to culture within it.
You will have:
- Significant experience in organisational development roles focused on organisational culture, or experience across large-scale change programmes that have involved shifting the dial from a culture perspective.
- Confident facilitation skills, able to run workshops, focus groups and development cohorts
- A good research background - using qualitative and quantitative data to inform your decisions
- An ability to build strong connections with others and lean into challenging conversations
- A desire to enhance ACC's people experience and know when this is achieved
- Exceptional communication skills to engage with others and prepare fit for purpose strategies, policies and guidelines. Clear and concise communication
Working at ACC:
The base salary range for this role is $134,001 to $189,178 with starting salary depending on skills and experience of the successful applicant. ACC also offers additional 9% superannuation.

We know that a diverse and inclusive team helps us meet the needs of our customer, and we welcome candidates from every ethnicity, national origin, gender identity, age, and those with a disability or who have additional mental health needs. It is important to us that people are free to be themselves at work. Here are some ways we encourage that:
- Employee networks to support our colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- The option to explore flexible working that suits your needs and ours.
