Nelson Hospital Theatre Suite consists of 6 Operating Theatres with a Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and Endoscopy suite. We are a friendly and supportive team focusing on providing a caring and professional environment, delivering quality care and extended nursing practice.
Shifts are rostered and rotating across Sunday to Monday with on call after hours.
Positions available include:
- Casual - working as required, primarily covering staff leave and assisting with peak capacity.
- Permanent 0.8 to 1.0FTE (64 to 80 hours a fortnight).

The full-time equivalent salary range for these positions:
- if a RN is appointed, is $72,061 through to $95,340;
- if an EN is appointed is $61,146 to $73,609;
based on the current NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA (Pay Equity adjustment), dependent on skills, experience and registration in NZ.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You will be a NZ Registered Nurse, or Enrolled Nurse, with a current APC and post-registration experience working with a multi-disciplinary perioperative team. You will have a positive attitude, an innovative and adaptable approach to practice, excellent communication skills and a real commitment to providing quality patient-centred care. You will also be a team player, who enjoys keeping up to date with clinical practice, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
Te Whatu Ora staff must have completed their primary course of NZ approved COVID-19 vaccines as they have direct contact with patients and members of the public.
